A Place of Our Own, Bryce Charles Pantry
Image | A Place of Our Own, Bryce Charles Pantry
We didn't have the heart or interest to write a feature on this year's Charman Prize (coverage of previous years can be found here, here and here), but we did love this entry by Bryce Charles Pantry. Once again, Bermuda was the subject from which the artists were required to draw inspiration with an international panel of experts judging the entries under an overriding theme of “Bermuse”, paying particular attention to design, use of material, distinctive and convincing style and source of inspiration. Pantry's composition of coloured pencil and acrylic on board used Bermuda's coat of arms as its starting point and perfectly encapsulated in a lighthearted way many aspects of island life and Bermuda's history in a single image.
