While living in the British Virgin Islands, one of our favourite things to do on a weekend was to escape from the relative hustle and bustle of Tortola to the quiet, luxury of Little Dix Bay Hotel on the neighbouring island of Virgin Gorda.

Originally purchased in 1958 by Laurance Rockefeller, Little Dix is now part of the Rosewood group of hotels and has undergone a major refurbishment after sustaining damage during Hurricane Irma four years ago. The hotel property retains its air of casual luxury with midcentury modern touches and signature vaulted roofs but there are now a total of 80 rooms consisting of 42 guest rooms, 35 suites, two beach houses and one hillside villa with expansive ocean views, outdoor showers and private plunge pools. The hotel also has put in six new tennis courts and two pickleball courts and started a new Rosewood Explorer’s children’s programme to keep the kids entertained.
