British designer Max Lamb in conjunction with Kwangho Lee has created an installation of sculptural items made from three-dimensional tiles that he developed for Japanese brand Tajimi Custom Tiles who make specialty tiles for architects and designers around the world.

Lamb produced his tiles using pressure moulding which creates highly precise shapes. This allowed him to play with the idea of making what is commonly a two-dimensional item into something three-dimensional in shape.

The tiles which form the tile system consist of a modular set of four types of three-dimensional tiles: corner, flat, sweep and curve. Depending on the function they are either glazed on the inside or on the outside and this allows them to be used to build an infinite number of objects.

The installation by Lamb and Lee in Tokyo was originally intended to be part of the brand launch during Milan Design Week 2020 but was cancelled due to the pandemic. While the tiles were already being produced the installation works were initially made for display only and not intended for sale however Tajimi Custom Tiles received so many enquiries about them they now intend to produce the pieces commercially.
