The Big One thinks I have design ADD, though he didn’t describe it in quite such polite terms. He’s probably right. I think I like the challenge of getting a place ready, designing and the possibilities of a blank canvas, but once I’ve furnished a place as much as I can as a renter (i.e. no major construction allowed); I think I get bored instead of just enjoying the completed space. So we are about to move again! I like the challenge, but in the future I will try to relax and enjoy the space I am in. I hope once we’re living in our own place, this will stop although rather than moving each time I get bored, I will probably remodel every room and when the whole house is done, I’ll just start again from the beginning!

This fantastic bungalow was posted on Apartmenttherapy today. Love the living/dining room and outdoor space. Note the lack of clutter *sigh*

I came across this website from Angry Alien Productions the other night while I was looking for something else. They do 30-second summaries of well-known movies, brilliantly done and very funny.

I read an article the other day about career women who give it all up to raise their children. These women are so used to the challenges of the world of work that they have to find other avenues in which to channel their energies, an as a result they often put a lot of emphasis into their children, but in often trivial pursuits such as ensuring that their child has the best toddler bed, or lunch kit or birthday party. Reading the article I could see a lot of myself in it. Although I have kept the career, I can also spend a lot of time doing these trivial things. As for me, I blame: (i) the Internet which has opened up the entire world of possibilities for me. I am no longer restricted to the limited retail options Bermuda has to offer (for anyone who lives on a small island, you know what I am talking about) and I have all of my favourite sites bookmarked; and (ii) the chi-chi children’s lifestyle magazines that now abound. Unfortunately I subscribe to the worst offender Cookie magazine. Every month I am inundated with new ideas like the bunting pictured above. Simple, I know but it took ages to make, and the feeling of accomplishment whenever I look at it is great. I love it though as they feed my creativity and there is a ton of great stuff online to inspire me. I just wish I had more time to do it all.
How many new bloggers start that way?

Welcome to my first blog post! I’m finally getting with the times, but just setting up the damn thing makes me realise I still have a lot to learn.

Thankfully, it’s the end of another week. We have a busy day tomorrow with the little one starting ballet and continuing Kindermusik. Also have the Firm’s summer party to attend in the afternoon. Today she had a really hard time going to school. She did not want to go at all and clung to me crying. It took two teachers to prise her off me! Not fun. Anyway, I won’t write much more as this is really a test and it’s late. Will write again over the weekend.
