For us this series of beautiful and colourful coffee tables and a single totem sculpture give off a jolie laide vibe - with shades of 1980s Memphis design.

Entitled Flare, the tables designed by Italy-based multidisciplinary studio Draga & Aurel hark back to playful Perspex rings with slices of colour which could be purchased for pennies years ago.

The inspiration for the seven different forms of coffee table is what the designers call "an actualization of fractal concepts". They worked with artisans based in Lake Como, Italy where the studio is headquartered and constructed the tables by combining sheets of Lucite in different colours and thicknesses. When cut and glued, the strata combine to refract the light and create various hues and gradations.
