The artisan-dyed acrylic side tables that make up the Tone series from Yun Sihyun are inspired by the colours of Korea and in particular the traditional clothing known as the hanbok.

Sihyun uses the characteristics most associated with the colours to create furniture with a modern sensibility. Using a book of 315 traditional Korean colours called Korean Colours: Korean Colour Schemes and the actual hanbok material as her starting point she moved beyond the five most popular colours - blue, green, red, black, white - to develop her so-called lyrical line made up of 20 representative colours.

The result is, that while like the hanbok the tables are made up of components of varying colours, together the pieces form a harmonious whole and create a unique atmosphere by which traditional Korean elements are incorporated into her work.
