Molly Goddard based her latest collection on the nostalgia and youthful energy evoked by a single photo of herself walking with her father on Portobello Road 25 years ago.
Although ruminating on her childhood, Goddard’s signature voluminous silhouettes were still present including a taffeta dress that was layered over a salmon pink knitwear and worn with thick-soled brothel creepers, or huge cloud-like sunshine yellow tutu dresses worn over checked, tailored trousers. Goddard included colourful knit Fair Isle sweaters for warmth and showed menswear for the first time. The slim cut of the men’s suits and checked fabric gave them a retro quality. Everything was topped with a touch of whimsy: many of the models wore toques topped with gigantic bows.
