Furniture design studio Brdr Krüger recently launched a chair initially developed by the late Danish architect Nanna Ditzel in 1983 but never released.

The Arkade Chair was one of several designs Ditzel created for Brdr Krüger during the course of her career and completes the company’s heritage offering, joining a curated collection of historical pieces by Hans Bølling and contemporary designs by David Thulstrup and OEO Studio.

The chair was originally part of a collaboration with Ditzel spearheaded by Niels Krüger and features some of Ditzel’s most distinctive signature elements including rounded shapes and circular forms. The combination of materials and techniques used in the manufacture of the chair include woodturning, steam-bent wood, metal and upholstery, and marry the designer’s love of decoration and colour.

Ditzel’s commitment to excellence in craftsmanship has been honoured by the use of new materials and techniques that align with the company’s mid-century Danish aesthetic, while being reinterpreted for a contemporary audience. The Arkade Chair is available with a solid oak frame, with metal finishes in brass, black oxide, and chrome, as well as with various textile or leather upholsteries.
