We recently stumbled across this fantastic piece of mid-century modern furniture which was produced in the 1950s in-house by Vynex, an Australian-based fabric company that was a division of ICI.

Called the "Bermuda", the low-slung, armless lounge chair appears to been made specifically for use in advertising the company’s products which included specially treated vinyl plastic-coated fabrics.

Not much is known about the piece. Its design is credited to Vynex’s "design service" although it is presumed ICI would have contracted the chair's manufacture to third parties. We don't know how many chairs were actually put into production but luckily, a few examples can still be found today.
