Two words immediately come to mind: dark and moody.
As Erdem Moralioglu celebrated his 20th anniversary, he took inspiration from 17th-century naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian whose work predates Darwin's. Her highly religious background (she was a Calvinist) belies the fact that she was also a fiercely independent woman who travelled widely in pursuit of her profession, and is reflected in the collection's botanical prints, severe silhouettes, long, pointed collars and necklines.
