In these strange, conflicted times we find yet another designer taking the opportunity with their Spring 2020 collection to make something of political statement on the meaning of one’s national identity.

When considering what constitutes an American identity, India-born Bibhu Mohapatra took inspiration from a 1960s book by Richard Avedon and James Baldwin called Nothing Personal and distilled this down to what he perceived to be the most important qualities: diversity, strength and originality, and these attributes could be found in spades in this collection.
