No real surprises from Michael Kors, but his ‘Preppy Punk’ collection was a welcome addition to the  fashion calendar.

Never straying far from his all-American aesthetic (in fact his grandparents’ experience of arriving at Ellis Island many years ago was one of the collection’s influences), he showed plaid and nautical details in a fresh way using non-traditional colours. Crystal anchors were affixed to sweaters and skirts, and gold buttons adorned jackets. Kors tapped the decade of the 1940s for his main silhouette. Waists were nipped in and shoulders strong creating an hourglass shape. We loved the spiked shoes.
