Taking inspiration from the multicultural nation, Foster tells the story of a voyager from Calcutta, India who, instead of being brought to Trinidad from India as an indentured labourer in 1845, time-travels to the year 2020. Displaced and disoriented, she instinctively adapts to this new way of life. Her clothing becomes modern and practical. The traditional sari is now a cropped day dress, her half slip transitions into a tapered asymmetric pencil skirt. As she begins to immerse herself in the rich, cultural vibrancy of the island, she develops a taste for colour which is reflected in her clothing. She is the modern-day Caribbean woman.
