From the Light Phone in all of its versions to the simplicity of the Placebo Phone, we have long been proponents of less is more when it comes to the super computer in our pocket. The BoringPhone is the latest answer to the problem of how to balance the usefulness of a phone with the time-consuming distractions the modern smartphone encourages.

The designers have built a custom operating system using Android as its platform and the phone has only the most essential features such as the ability to make phone calls, send text messages, take photos and give audio playback. The designers have removed the most distracting features including email, web browsers, and apps. The result is a minimalist smartphone with all the useful things, but none of the distracting stuff.

The BoringPhone is available for preorder order on Kickstarter for $235.
